There is no doubt that there is no shortage of companies and individuals selling beard oils and balms, you can certainly find almost every scent you are looking for and the choice is a daunting one, I have reviewed eighteen products now and I have a queue of oils, balms and a mist to be tested and yet I have merely scratched the surface.

There are companies out there selling every product conceivable for the bearded man and more, you can even buy hats, t-shirts, lighters and the list is endless and this is all to convince you to part with your hard earned cash, the beard grooming industry is massive!

So this is what I’m hoping to help with, I’m hoping that my reviews will help you make an informed decision and hopefully stop you from wasting your money and most importantly, stop you from buying something that isn’t perfect for your beard.
A good beard oil or balm will make your beard feel amazing, it will keep your skin under the beard moisturised and healthy and it will keep your beard looking good and give it some hold so you don’t look like you are homeless by lunchtime.

My recommendation is to find yourself a small set-up, many of these oils and balms are produced by just one bearded guy or two and some are husband and wife companies. These people are highly passionate about their products and its that exact reason that will work in your favour, there are many large companies that mass produce Beard products and the quality suffers.

I have reviewed some oils that use many oils, take the oil by ‘Heavy Metal Gentleman’ for example, its oils are a base of Jojoba, Argan Oil, Almond Oil, Castor oil, Avocado Oil and Coconut Oil and all balanced to produce the best oil they could get and that blend of base oils is just as important as the essential oils that are used to give us the various aromas and that’s why I like their oil so much.

Scruff Stuff has again spent time blending these base oils and the way that James blends his essential oils is incredible, the Scruff Stuff oils have the most complex beautiful smell, they are akin to top fragrances.

The various smells that are produced are down to personal taste, but the base oils are what you should look at first. Don’t ignore the work that has gone into creating a great oil before then working on producing the scent.

You can always send me a message on Twitter on Instagram or on Facebook and I will happily recommend a product!
