I was laid in bed and I heard the voices of some children as they passed by on their way to school, they sounded happy and the fact that they were on their way to school was clearly not affecting their mood.

It made me think back to my school days, I was never so happy on a school morning and I would do what ever I could to get out of going. I would often miss lessons and just walk out and walk the 8 miles back home and I didn’t care what the teachers did when I was caught, after all I preferred detention or being hit with a slipper or cane over the ordeal of what the bullies did to me!

The thing that upset me the most is that I enjoy learning and especially the sciences and yet I left school with very poor grades.

Nowadays bullying is high profile, every effort we are told is put into putting an end to this despicable crime and yet it still happens and unfortunately it will continue to happen because there will always be people who for one reason or another feel the need to find someone weaker than themselves and make their life a misery and we can put this down to immaturity however bullying isn’t just a behaviour that happens at school. Workplace bullying is just as common as school bullying and fortunately I have never had to suffer it at work.

Bullies believe themselves to be better than the unfortunate people that they target but the truth is that often they bully because they are insecure and trying to dominate over another individual gives them a boost or they themselves are being bullied or whatever else is happening in their own lives.

Personally I don’t care what reason they have to bully, its a despicable behaviour that should never been tolerated.
