Back in the 80’s when I was still under 20, there was girl that I had my eye on. She looked so damn good, she was popular and I knew that I wanted her. I spent a long while on this and finally we hooked up, unfortunately despite her amazing looks, it was a disappointment.
Likewise I have seen the Uppercut Deluxe beard balm about, I know that many people only have good things to say about it, the branding is stylish and so I have been wanting to add it to the reviews, alas like my brief fling with the gorgeous blonde, it has ended in disappointment!
However like the stunning girl, the balm smells damn good and just to be clear, I am talking about her perfume you filthy minded people.
It is a bold Coconut scent like the popular coconut rum drink or like a sun tan oil and I really like the scent.
So what is the problem?
Uppercut Deluxe describe it as – ‘With just the right amount of control and shine, Uppercut Deluxe Beard Balm will keep your beard shaped and controlled, reducing those annoying flyaway’s while keeping your dapper and distinguished look in place. No one likes a shiny, greasy beard after all… The best bit – your beard will be left feeling nourished and moisturised.’
The balm was a lot thinner than I had expected, it is white in colour and almost like a gel and after squirting a small amount into my hand and working it into the beard, my hands became sticky.
The Uppercut Deluxe Beard Balm almost set my beard like a styling product rather than a balm, the problem is that this left my beard feeling very dry and no sign of being ‘nourished and moisturised’.
I have been reviewing for about two years now, but I was left unsure on my view on the balm. I did a Google search for reviews and they were all positive.
So I asked my daughters boyfriends to try, one turned his nose up instantly and I gave a tube to the other one and asked him to give me an honest feedback.
He said that he thinks it is really just a styling product, that his beard felt dry and he couldn’t wait to get home, wash his beard and get something on to nourish and soften his beard!
The Uppercut Beard Balm is made up from Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Glycerin, PVP, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetrimonium Chloride, PEG-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Capryly Glycol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Fragrance, Coumarin, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA.
I take no pleasure in writing negative reviews, I also take no pleasure in having a dry beard but that is what happens when you review. I haven’t tried but could it be used on top of an oil just to style?
Like I always say, if you want the best beard care, buy products that are 100% natural and made in small batches. Often these are made by bearded guys who want to produce the best product for beards and if not a bearded guy its by someone who wants to produce a product that gives the best results.
The 100ml tube is available from the Uppercut Deluxe website for £13.
