I have been using Pirates Blend Co ‘Bay Rum’ Beard Oil for the past three days.

The ‘Bay Rum’ scent is not to my liking, I was just talking about this in my last review. The West Indies Bay or the Cinnamon Leaf that is used in the Bay Rum oils has Clove notes and for me its a big no. Sometimes however through clever blending with other essential oils, the clove note can actually be quite nice but alas with this oil its a bit too much of just that.

I actually like the ‘Bay Rum’ scents that have a layer of freshness to them as well to balance with that spicy Bay Rum side.

The scent is spicy and warm, however unfortunately there is no mention on the label or the website as to what the essential oils used in this oil are. This could cause an issue if you are trying to avoid an essential oil and it also is a missed opportunity for Pirates Blend Co as most guys will want to know what essential oils are used.

The base for Pirates Blend Co ‘Bay Rum’ Beard Oil is Argan, Hemp, Grapeseed , Jojoba Oils and Vitamin E carrier oils and it’s not a bad base. It has a medium consistency and works into the beard hair well without leaving it feeling greasy.

Pirates Blend Co

The oils are available as 10ml for £4.95 and 30ml for £13.95 from the website and are housed in a blue glass bottle with a glass dropper to dispense the oil. The labels are unfortunately missing a lot of info like a full list of ingredients in the Latin form and the allergens, shelf life or period after opening & details of the company including address. These are supposed to be on all products for sale in the UK.

The oils are also available as:

  • Tea Tree
  • Citrus
  • Eucalyptus
  • Vanilla & Mango
