Review of the Savage Alchemy Obsidian Beard Butter

2 min read

I previously tested the Savage Alchemy Obsidian beard balm and discovered how hard it was when my finger hit the surface instead of slipping into the balm.

So I then assumed the beard butter would be softer, however once again the contents were solid and I had to use a metal plectrum to scoop some out.

The butter actually contains just three ingredients, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter & Jojoba oil and so I was surprised how firm it was.

However once in your hand and you start to work it, it actually turns into a soft butter quite quickly, but takes longer than the other butters I have used and it certainly is the firmest beard butter I have come across.

It has left my beard feeling softer but it doesn’t feel as nourished and conditioned as I have had from some other beard butters.

However, I am not saying it is a bad product!

I have tested over 500 products and so I have tested products from very bad to utterly fantastic and so I of course judge products based on what I have tried. So just because I am not blown away by this butter, it isn’t because it’s not a good quality, it is just that I have sampled better.

It is made from all natural ingredients, it is hand made in small batches and it is a nice product.

The Obsidian scent is a blend of Pine, Birch & Black Spruce essential oils.

It is I think, a scent that is a winter scent, it is warm and reminds me of a Methyl Salicylate, Camphor and Menthol effiicasent oil that is used to ease pulled muscles and clear a blocked nose.

It isn’t for me but I can appreciate that it is blended well.
