I have been sent the Opies Beard Co beard balm for review.
Whilst chatting about reviewing for the brand, owner and creator Jamie Cox said via message “I remember you saying in one of your videos that you hate clove so I’m interested to see what you think of the fruit gum as it does contain clove!”
I really admire that, most would then avoid sending me anything that has Clove or Clove notes but Jamie was so confident in his product and scent blend that he took a gamble.
The base for the balm is a blend of Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, Shea Butter & Vitamin E.
The result is a quite firm and white balm, so being firm it does take a gnats cock longer to work the balm in your hands before you can apply.
That firmness gives a really nice hold, if like me you have a curly and generally very messy beard then a firm balm will help to keep your beard in place and looking good for longer. I actually prefer a firm balm because of that reason!
My beard has also been feeling softer and I am happy with the way that it has looked and felt.
The Fruit Gum scent is a blend of Grapefruit Peel, Lime Peel & Clove and so I have to admit I was unsure but Jamie has proved he was right.
It is subtle, but not too subtle.
I am going to have to hold my hands up and admit that I like the Clove in this scent blend. The clove works so well with those citrus scents and the scent has been blended absolutely prefectly, it is balanced and not over complicated.
The Fruit Gum beard gum comes in a 50ml screw top tin and is packaged in a black card box and costs £11.99 from the website.
