I have been sent the Mariner Jack The Captains Charge beard balm for review purposes!

Holding the Captains Charge beard balm, I am amazed at the fact that this is a small batch product. The embossed branding on the tin gives it the feel of a large main stream high street brand that would hold it’s own in stores like Harrods & Harvey Nichols!

But of course even though branding is important, even the best product will fail if it’s ‘all fur coat and no knickers‘ as my nan used to say!

However you have need have no fears about product quality with Mariner Jack!

It is a blend of ;

  • Shea Butter
  • Beeswax
  • Argan Oil
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Jojoba Seed Oil

It truly is a stunning product, the balm is perfectly creamy smooth, easy to scoop and the results on my beard are very satisfying. The Mariner Jack balms are definetly in my top 3 favourites.

The Captains Charge scent is Sandalwood, Frankincense & Cypress and oh damn ………….. it is incredible!

Owner and creator Dave Green knows how to produce a quality scent blend. His scent blends are always so perfectly balanced and the various ingredients working harmoniously to create a beautiful result.

The Captains Charge is Woody, rich, soft, sweet, spicy and has a lovely warmth and it is one of those scents where you can’t resist opening up the tin to stick your nose in and lose yourself in the scent!

Now many people will complain at the higher prices of small batch products, many will say that the high street products are cheaper and I agree, but you feel that cheapness and they are often filled with ingredients you don’t want on your face! Some will say that there are cheaper small batch brands and again, I agree. But again you can feel that in the product and the products will be bulked with cheaper ingredients and the scent blends are often immature in comparison!

What you are paying for here is quality ingredients, the skill and time of the owner and you are paying for quality. Brands like Mariner Jack will produce top quality products and then if a batch doesn’t meet the quality the brand is built on, well then that batch will never make it out to you the customer. They would rather throw away a batch than deliver to you an inferior product.

You pay for quality!
