I was sent some Hair and Beard Shampoos from Brick, this is a white label brand owned by Rik Van Laar who is a barber in the Netherlands.
I had assumed the shampoos would all be the same base and that just the scent changed but I was wrong!
I started by using the ‘Wacky Weed’ shampoo and with four pumps of shampoo, I got no lather at all and it is very odd and disappointing when that happens and the same happened with the Mancave and Leather.
Now I know that this is likely down to the tap water here, I am in Essex, England and about 40 miles east of London and the water here is hard and I hate it and one problem with this hard water is that it stops the lather in products and so you will need a lot more than if you was in a soft water area!
They contain amongst other ingredients Apple Cider Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Lime Juice, Sea Salt & Fragrance.
So those three shampoos get from me a 60/100
But then I used the ‘Aloha’ shampoo in the shower and it gave some lather!
This did confuse me. I always test without looking at ingredients as I don’t want my opinion to be swayed by what I read. So I had to look at the label and I saw that the ingredients were different.
This shampoo contains (again as well as other ingredients) Argan oil, Castor, Almond oil, Patchouli, Tobacco Leaf, Orange, Bergamot & Lemon
I gave this shampoo an 80
I then noticed that the Menthol Madness and the Lumberjack look different in the bottle, they have a sheen to them and they produced more lather.
In fact I like the ‘Menthol Madness’ it is without doubt my favourite from the batch. I got a nice lather and the Menthol freshness is something I really like the feel of!
Lumberjack contains Silver Fir, Styrax (amber) Basil, Juniper
Menthol Madness contains Wheat Gluten & Protein, Argan Oil, Cucumber Extract, Sage, Peppermint Leaf & Castor Oil.
I gave these two a score of 90.
The Brick Hair and Beard Shampoos come in a 250ml plastic bottle with a pump dispenser and cost €13,95 from the website.
