The Balm House Citron Provocateur Beard Oil is one of six vegan friendly beard oils available from the brand and of course I had to start with the citrus scented oil.

Strangely ‘Balm House’ chose to release beard oils first, which sent my brain into a loop of confusion!

Balm House have said this of their Citron Provocateur beard oil

Our Citron Provocateur fragrance is what you get when citrus and spice collide. Consisting of spicy undertones that mix and mingle with a succulent medley of citrus, the scent is magnificently masculine yet refreshingly fruity.

However that is all we have to go on, Balm House have not revealed what Essential oils are used for this scent blend, it merely says on the website and the bottle ‘Blended Essential Oils’.

It is obviously a Citrus scent but what precisely I could not even guess at and I believe that cinnamon is one of the oils used for scent. The scent is quite nice but it isn’t one that I would rave about!

Now really they should disclose this information, I understand that brands are very protective over their scent blends but the ingredients should be listed in full and at the end of the day, the ratios and qualities of those oils is what guards the secret.

Balm House has now added the essential oil ingredients to the website, Grapefruit, Orange, Black Pepper & Cinnamon Leaf.

The base for the Balm House Citron Provocateur Beard Oil is a big old blend of Jojoba, Argan, Sweet Almond, Apricot Kernel, Aloe Vera, Hemp Seed, Grapessed & Vitamin E Oil carrier oils. The result is a very nice pale beard oil that left my beard feeling softer and it was quickly absorbed into the beard without leaving it feeling oily or greasy.

Of course the oils are just as important for the skin under the beard, they will help to prevent the dreaded itch and will keep the skin moisturised. By keeping the skin and the follicles in good condition, this will help to promote strong and healthy beard growth. it can even help prevent spots forming.

About Balm House

Who is Balm House?

Balm House was founded in 2017 in the heart of rural Nottinghamshire. The business came about from a mutual love of all-natural cosmetics.

Balm House is run by Anthony and Charlotte.
For years Anthony had been searching for the right beard products, then turned to making his own. With Charlotte’s help and extensive knowledge of natural oils and aromatherapy, Balm House was born!

What do we do?

We want you to have the best product at the best price, so that’s what we’ve done, there’s NO hidden costs, NO shipping fees and only high quality ingredients used in our products.

We do things properly!

There are a lot of “companies” out there selling beard products without the required legal documentation. You can rest assured that we are doing things properly. All of our products hold CPSR (Cosmetic Product Safety Report) documents which are held at our head office in London (see the contact page for our address). Our products have been notified to the European authorities via the CPNP (Cosmetic Product Notification Portal). Each of our products also have compiled PIF (Product Information File) documents.
All of these are required by law in order to sell a cosmetic product within the European Union.
We also adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), all of our products are made in a safe and clean environment, all equipment and machinery is sterilised after each use.

No Parabens, No Sulphates, No artificial scents/oils

Our products are designed with your hair and skin in mind. Many competing products use artificial ingredients that may feel great initially, however these can be damaging in the long run due to the need to wash more harshly to remove the artificial ingredients. We only use natural ingredients, these will be absorbed and help to rejuvenate facial hair and skin after washing.
