A while back I started to test the Debonair for Men Beard Oils but developed an unbearable itch and soon realised that it was an allergic reaction not to the base but because they used fragrance oils not natural essential oils.

And so I asked Kevin Jackson who I know through ‘Guardians of the Beard’ Facebook group to review them for me.

Kevin jackson

I was asked to review a set of five beard oils from Debonair for Men.

The five oils are all labelled Debonair for men Hydrating Beard Oil & in the set are :-

Debonair signature scent. (nothing on the label to even hint what that is)

Black Pepper & Bergamot.

Tobacco & Vanilla.

All the oils are made up of Coconut oil, Sunflower seed oil & olive oil as the carrier oils & then have different essential oils & ingredients for the scents.

I used each one for a few days to see how they worked with my unruly face fuzz.

First of all I will say that I like the glass bottles & the pipette in the lid makes for easy application of the oils.

The oils themselves are a nice consistency, not too thin/runny but also not too thick!

They apply nicely to the beard & you can spread them through before they are absorbed into the beard.

They do not leave the beard or your hands feeling like they are covered in an oil slick.

Using these oils left my beard feeling super soft & manageable! (which is amazing as it is really wiry normally).

The softness lasted a good 8 hours, so that is a big plus in my book.

I have to say that I really like these oils & I would recommend them to my bearded friends although I do feel that they are slightly on the expensive side!

£19.99 for 10ml of oil, that wont last long if you have a big beard like I do. (set of two)

You can save money however by buying the oils in a set! £34.99 will get you all five oils which is really good value!!

I will now attempt to describe the scents which can be a hard thing to do especially as everyone smells things In a different way!

Debonair signature scent :- This is a hard one to describe as there is absolutely no indication of what the scent is anywhere on the label! I would describe it as a very subtle sweet smell with very slight floral undertones! it is a nice scent but doesn’t last long enough in my opinion.

Black Pepper & Bergamot :-  This has a nice warm scent mainly of the black pepper but the citrus smell of the Bergamot comes through nicely. I like this scent a lot, it is not too subtle but equally it is not overpowering & it lasts a good few hours.

Sandalwood :- I am sorry to say that I didn’t like this scent! To me it smells of cheap soap & for some reason made me very wheezy/ brought on my Asthma! Again this is a personal finding & others might really like it.

Tobacco & Vanilla :- I was really surprised by this scent! I normally do not like any products that have the tobacco leaf scent in them. But this one smells amazing & is definitely my favourite!  The combination of tobacco leaf & sweet vanilla just works perfectly! I think the vanilla takes the edge off the tobacco & then the tobacco stops the vanilla being too sickly sweet! This scent is just divine & last all day!

Unscented :- Obviously this doesn’t have any scent added but I do believe that I could detect a very slight hint of coconut! as the main ingredient for all these oils is coconut oil then I am probably right! This oil is brilliant if you prefer not to have beard but also if you like to use any other product in your beard such as balm or beard butter & you don’t want to mix scents!

All in all I really rate these oils (except the sandalwood scent, for the above reasons) & would give them as a whole a good strong 7.5/10
Kevin Jackson

Thank you Kevin
