I’m sat enjoying the sound of rain beating on the window, a sound that I love and a sound that is very welcome after a week of misery in the heat.

Bah humbug I hear you cry and rightly so, it must be so frustrating to those of you that have had to work through the heat wave and were looking forward to the weekend, it is very unfair. However I stick with my feeling of joy that it’s wet and cool because the heat has made me feel so unwell and I know that many of my fellow spoonies have also suffered in the heat.

I love the rain and its not just because it has cooled us down, I have always loved the sound of rain and I love a good rumble of thunder to accompany it as well. I have a small two man tent in the shed and when I was able to get about using crutches I would lay out in the tent during heavy rain, I find the sound so relaxing and I would read a book or even watch some Big bang theory on my tablet, I can’t get enough of the sound of rain.
25 years ago during a very intense rain storm I asked my wife, who was then my girlfriend to help me find something in the boot of my car, she didn’t look happy as the rain was so heavy, but she gave in and we went out to my car and as she stood there soaked to the skin, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me and I pulled out a diamond ring.

When I was a child I lived in Wales for a bit with my nan, the sound of the waterfall that was at the bottom of the garden echoed across the mountains and when it rained the noise increased as more and more water ran of the mountains. When we moved back to Essex I had trouble sleeping without the noise of the water and I missed the amount of rain that we would get in Wales and swore that I would move back when I was older. Unfortunately my wife doesn’t share my love of Wales, she likes rain but not so often.

I hope you are all enjoying the cool air, I hope your pain is as low as possible and I hope you have a good day.
