I have recently received a box of beard care products from this Swedish brand and I start the reviews with the Mr Bear Family Springwood Shampoo & Conditioner.

Mr Bear Family Shampoo

I have to be careful what shampoo I use as I get a dry scalp but also behind my ears can get red and itchy, and it drives me mad.

So I was very happy that the Mr Bear Family has been made to not only be gentle and okay for use by people with sensitive skin but to also actively help.

Here is what the brand says about the shampoo ingredients;

Made of natural ingredients and mild biodegradable surfactants. Created to give healthy and energized hair. Includes Witch hazel to soothe irritated scalps, Nettle to revitalize, strengthen the hair roots and stimulate hair growth, Horsetail to prevent dandruff.

I have found in the past that some of these handmade products whilst great for my skin, they struggle to produce a decent lather in the hard water that we get here in Essex UK.

That is not the case with this shampoo, it produced a very nice creamy and rich lather.

The Springwood Scent;

“SPRINGWOOD” is a blend between rich, sweet spices and fresh notes of buckthorn, like a forest in springtime.

It is a very nice fresh scent and I like the sweetness in the scent coupled with that slight woody scent, and it hasn’t been over done. It is just enough for you to pick up the scent without being overpowering.

This product can be used on hair and beard, and it is important to use a ‘made for’ the beard shampoo for your beard as the main brand hair shampoo’s can strip the oils out of your beard.

Mr Bear Family Conditioner

I run a beard group on Facebook called ‘Guardians of the Beard‘ and a question we regularly get is “can you recommend a decent beard conditioner”.

A few years ago I thought a conditioner for beards was just being marketed as a gimmick, that it couldn’t really possibly make much difference.

And I was wrong!

I now love a decent beard conditioner and this is a decent beard conditioner. It leaves your beard feeling very soft (mine is usually dry and wirey) and once you use one, you will never go back.

Here is what the brand says about the conditioner ingredients;

Created to give healthy and energized hair! Includes Argan Oil to give strength and revitalize, Witch hazel to soothe irritated scalps, Nettle to strengthen the hair roots, revitalize and stimulate hair growth and Horsetail to prevent dandruff. Why should you use a conditioner? When you apply shampoo to the hair, it opens up the outermost layer of the hair to remove grease and dirt that gets stuck there. The conditioner seals that layer and makes the surface smooth again. A conditioner also contributes with more moisture and makes the hair soft and shiny.

And this has the same ‘Springwood’ scent as the shampoo.

Mr Bear Family have taken the time to do their research and select natural ingredients that will not only keep our hair and beard looking its best, but also to make sure that our skin is also protected and that the product is gentle and so safe for use everyone.

I have to mention the Mr Bear Family branding!

I received a box of beard care goodies from the brand and I was so very impressed with how these products are presented.

In the box they were shipped in, the products were packaged with the brown paper you can see under the products in the above photo. It was screwed up to protect the products and when I flattened it out, it was like an old-fashioned newspaper with adverts on and some were of course Mr Bear Family ads.

It is the small touches like that, that make a massive difference!

I love these products.
