When I first opened the box of products and saw Mountaineer Brand Magic Beard Balm Pine Tar, I was really amazed. I have never come across a Pine Tar Balm before, I love the Pine Tar soap and to add to it, the balm is also the Pine Tar colour!

Pine Tar has been used for generations and was used by the Scandinavians to preserve wood especially on ships and the rigging would also be protected from the harsh conditions with the Pine Tar.

I am a fan of Pine Tar soap, I suffer with dry skin and I get quite sore patches on my head and behind my ears. Also being disabled I have to make sure I don’t develop any sores on my legs and backside and I use Pine Tar soap as it is anti-inflammatory and it can help with skin problems like Psoriasis, Eczema and also Acne, Insect Bites, Hives and contact Dermatitis

So what better ingredient to help prevent dry skin under the beard and that itch that sends many guys reaching for a razor?

I like the smell of Pine Tar, my wife hates the stuff and so I knew that getting a kiss whilst using this balm would be impossible. However when I applied the balm, I even found the scent to be too strong for me and this is of course personal taste! Also don’t forget that I am basically housebound and being outdoors the scent wouldn’t be as strong.

I was disappointed as a Pine Tar Balm sounded perfect, the ratio of Pine Tar must be higher than the soaps that I have used containing it? Saying that, this balm is a product that isn’t made for the scent, this will help you if you get spots on the skin under your beard or dry skin and beard itch and so it remains in my skin first aid stock and I have used some behind my ears to help with dry and sore skin and it helped better than an antiseptic cream!

As well as Pine Tar, Mountaineer Brand Magic Beard Balm Pine Tar contains 100% natural butters, infused oils, and essential oils (Eucalyptus and Lavender). The Balm like the other Mountaineer Magic Balms has a soft consistency and is easy to scoop from the tin and work in your hands.
