I have received the METRANS Beard Kit for review that is available on Amazon.

VIDEO REVIEW AT END OF POST

I guess it would be fair to say that it is like many of the generic beard kits that are available on Amazon, eBay etc and so would be likely to be purchased as gifts!

METRANS Beard Kit

It is a 6 piece beard kit that contains a 30ml beard oil, 45g beard balm, Derma roller, Beard comb, Small scissors and a storage bag and is priced at £22.99 on Amazon.

It is housed in a black card box with the Black hatted lion logo and the words ‘With METRANS you taste good’!

METRANS Beard Kit contents

Inside is a black moulded plastic tray containing the products and a small card box that houses the scissors, comb and grey storage bag.

Beard Oil Ingredients

  • Grapeseed Oil
  • Argan Oil
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Jojoba Seed Oil
  • Aloe Leaf Juice
  • Himalayan Cedarwood
  • Tea Tree
  • Bergamot

And I know I don’t usually put the carrier and essential oils in the same list, but there is a reason for that.

The oil is completely clear! It has none of the natural colouring of these oils, and it feels thin and just does not feel like an oil blended from natural oils and that is because these oils have been processed in a way that most of the natural properties have been lost.

This is usually found in mass-produced products, they are purchasing these oils in vast quantities and making huge batches of products and so they need a long life on the ingredients (The kit has a 3 year shelf life).

The oil just doesn’t feel great.

The essential oils it seems from the description are chosen for their benefits rather than their scents and it shows as whilst the scent is not repulsive, it isn’t great.

The beard balm ………. I have to say that I am confused!

METRANS beard balm

This has to be a hare brained idea that was run with, I literally can see no reason for this split ‘Yin Yang’ beard balm!

The idea is that the yellow balm is used as you would usually use a beard balm and the white is for use on the roots (base) of your beard hair, but let’s have a look at the listed ingredients.

Beard Balm Ingredients

  • WHITE
  • Beeswax
  • Grapeseed Oil
  • Shea Butter
  • Jojoba Seed Oil
  • Coconut Oil
  • Himalayan Cedarwood
  • Sandalwood
  • Rosemary Leaf
  • Lavender
  • Tea Tree
  • Bergamot
  • YELLOW
  • Beeswax
  • Grapeseed Oil
  • Shea Butter
  • Jojoba Seed Oil
  • Coconut Oil
  • Himalayan Cedarwood
  • Sandalwood
  • Rosemary Leaf
  • Tea Tree
  • Bergamot

So it appears that from their listed ingredients, that apart from the colour, the only difference between the two of these balms is the addition or Lavender in the white balm?!

I fail to see why there is a need to have these two separate balms other than a poor gimmick, because when you use a balm, you would always work it right in and down onto the skin anyway, and it is not like there is anything special about this balm.

Derma Roller

The Derma Roller contains 540 0.5mm needles and the idea here is that if you have a patchy beard or you are struggling to grow a beard, you roll this over your skin and it encourages hair growth,

I am not really going to comment on this as I really do not know enough about this and I cannot tell you if this works or if it is just Snake Oil?

Here is what I found about Derma Rollers on the old www

In addition to activating collagen and keratin production, microneedling may help improve beard hair growth by boosting nutrient-rich blood flow to the area. Healthy circulation is necessary for healthy hair growth and healthy skin. A derma roller may also activate stem-cell growth factors

The Scissors are quite nice, and the comb is okay!

So I guess it will not come as a surprise when I say that I would not recommend the METRANS Beard Kit.

Take your £22.99 and purchase some hand made, small batch beard care because the comparison is, well there is no comparison.

I have reviewed over 650 beard care products and I have tried products that range from awful to absolutely amazing, this one barely makes it above the awful line. Check out the page where I list my favourite brands and products and you won’t go wrong!

I have to say that I never take any pleasure from being very critical of products but when reviewing you have to be 100% honest, people can purchase or not purchase based on what you say and I would hate for anyone to waste their money!
