I know, I know.

I have been ignoring the website lately, I apologise and yet I am not sorry!

What happened is that Spring arrived and I was able to get out into the garden and I lost my blogging mojo in favour of gardening.

Our garden 7 years ago.
Just grass except for a tiny border on the left that was very unloved.

We have now been in this bungalow for 7 years and as you can see from the photo above, it was all grass except for a very unloved tiny border on the left.

Poor Donna, we only had an electric flymo back then and it took her 3 hours and many puffs of her inhaler to get the grass cut.

It now looks like this and the small round (ish) border is new this year and so we have been busy.

What this means for me is I tackle the jobs slowly and I usually bumshuffle around weeding or doing small jobs and then making myself feel very unwell and on many occasions I have ended up not even being able to get myself back indoors as I have way over done it and fatigue and high pain kicks in.

Shh Gramp’s is asleep!

When that happens, well there is only one thing I can do, yep an alfresco nap!

So for the past month and a bit, it has been a mixture of me doing jobs whilst my wife tells me that I shouldn’t be doing it and me ignoring her and then a lit bit later asking for help as I can’t even get back in my wheelchair unassisted.

Then I spend a good few days in a lot of pain and feeling like I have been run over and yes I do know what it feels like to be run over.

I then recover and start eyeing up the jobs that need doing.

But I am at my happiest when weeding, crazy I know as most people don’t like that job but for me it is bliss.

Of course by now I should have been a beekeeper, last year my wife finally agreed to having a beehive and I was so happy. It has been a lifelong dream to keep bees.

The hive was built by a family member using the money I got for my birthday and I chose a Top Bar hive as it is well suited for wheelchair users. I was even gifted a Nuc of bees but they should have been here about 6 weeks ago and that was just as the Covid-19 lockdown began.

Bees are usually sent via Royal Mail Before 1pm Next Day service but they stopped guaranteeing that service as everything went mad and as my Nuc of bees was in Cumbria, well it meant that it wouldn’t happen.

So I have baited the hive with Lemongrass essential oil in the hope of luring a swarm and also a local swarm collector will call me if they get called out to one.

So I have been outside enjoying the Spring weather and then recovering and so the website has been neglected.

But I have two reviews to get out this weekend, one is a Mariner Jack beard balm, the other is a PoE Switch and then I also have a book on Beekeeping by Haynes to review.

It is a good job we are set for a short cold spell! 😁

  1. Hope you are well and staying safe, Really love you blog and reviews have been very helpful – especially the CBD reviews. I’ve been trying out CBD drops for pain management (MS and osteoarthritis) and found it helps although it can be a bit confusing choosing which brand to go for 🙂 – currently using drops from Healthspan as get my other supplements there too.
Keep up the good work and take care

    1. Thanks John, glad you like the blog. CBD is amazing, just make sure to find a reputable store and purchase from them. Most will advise on the best CBD products without over selling
