I have been using the JOS Grooming Original Beard Serum and I have taken longer to get to review because I have been so undecided about this product!

It is a product that is different to a beard oil and doesn’t produce the results you get from an oil.

JOS Grooming Original Beard Serum

It came packaged very nicely in a card box and included a black envelope sealed with string that contained an A4 sheet with details of product and also some Incense Sticks.

I haven’t had that in a beard product box before and I like that!

The JOS Grooming Original Beard Serum is a 30ml glass bottle with a black screw lid and a roller ball top, yes a roller ball.

Application: Original beard serum is easily applied without getting your hands wet by using the rollerball applicator on the bottle liberally across the bearded area of the face or alternatively apply roller ball to your hands and transfer the serum to the beard. For best results apply when beard is damp after washing and allow to dry naturally.

It is a unique idea but I can’t say that I have ever been concerned about getting my hands ‘wet’ from products.

It works but I think possibly it is better suited to a short beard?

This is what JOS Grooming say about their serum;

A premium blend which is absorbed easily, softens and nourishes beard hair. Helps both beard and skin to remain hydrated and dandruff free whilst imparting a high gloss shine. The aroma ‘Shinrin-yoko’ is our intriguing blend of seasoned woods oils, notes of smoke which descends into rich green earthy tones.

The scent is nicely done and is as described, it is just breaking out of the subtle for strength of scent.

It contains;

  • Safflower
  • Castor seed oil
  • Grapeseed seed oil
  • Black (Nigella) Seed Oil
  • Vitamin E oil

For me the Original Beard Serum gave my beard some hold, almost akin to a very, very light hairspray hold and that is okay as it kept it looking tidy.

However unlike the beard oils that I usually use, it didn’t feel very soft and I have been so undecided about the results because it isn’t a product I would criticise and yet it isn’t one that I would tell you to try!

I can’t see the purpose of this blend or a place for it in the market over the beard oils already available.

And yet I will not tell you that it is a bad product, because it isn’t!

The 30ml Original Beard Serum costs £16 from the JOS Grooming website
