Do you Vape?

Do you Vape?

It’s a question I get asked a lot, people then seem surprised when I say no.  I have explained that I don’t smoke and never have, but then I’m told it’s not smoking!

Up until now I have been uninterested in the Vape craze, but I have found out that my daughter vapes and so does my sister and they were discussing it.  I like vanilla custard said my daughter and I was confused, it’s then that I find out that there is probably every flavour you can name that is available for vaping, so I decided to find out more about vaping.

I have always been very anti-smoking and so I guess I had placed vaping under that smoking banner.  However I couldn’t have been more wrong, it’s not smoke at all, it is literally a vapour.  Looking back I guess that was obvious.

So what is vaping?

Basically and it is basic because I am just starting to understand it myself, its inhaling a vapour.  According to Collins Dictionary, Vapour is particles of moisture or other substance suspended in air and visible as clouds.

Vaping has been born from the electronic cigarettes that everyone was using to stop smoking, a way to get that nicotine fix and also satisfy that hand to mouth physical habit.  However vaping liquids don’t all contain nicotine and so it has even appealed to non smokers.

You can buy a kit from online stores like https://www.vapemate.co.uk, these can look quite different from the original e-cigs, its a device that has a built in rechargable battery that heats coils, the liquid is then heated by the coils to produce the vapour.

The e-liquid is a base of a Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerine, nicotine can be added in various strengths or not added and then the liquid is flavoured.

There has been a lot of discussion about vaping.

Is it safe?

Does it encourage people to take up smoking?

Is it right that people use them in areas where smoking is banned?

Personally I think its safer than smoking, I am very anti-smoking and yet I was okay when I heard that my daughter was vaping.  Its okay she is 23 not a child; I dont think it encourages people to take up smoking, in fact I think youngsters would rather vape, as its the “in thing”.  As for vaping in a pub or club? I think maybe not, everyone has now become used to smoking not being allowed and gone are the days when it was considered normal to come home from a pub or club smelling like an ashtray.  So I think people would be unhappy to be stood next to someone blowing Cinnamon Vapour into the air.

Vaping

I think that maybe there does need to be some form of regulation for the liquids used. I don’t see anything wrong with vaping and I think its a trend that is here to stay for a long time.

Will I try It? Well I’m not sure, I don’t feel the need to, but some of the flavours do sound very tempting!
