I have been watching the posts by @beespacex on Twitter about his entrances for hives.

These make a hive easier to defend, it stops there being a straight through entrance to the chamber meaning cold air can blow in and it creates a darker hive and this in turn creates a calmer colony.

His work, his experience, is fascinating and he is working to make beekeeping more natural and in turn benefit the bees.

So I used a follower board placed right at the front, it had three 1-inch holes drilled at the top and so this would give the bees an 8 to 9 mm gap between the front wall and the follower board, that is too large for them to fill with Propolis and too small to build comb!
