If you have a beard and you are on Instagram or Facebook, you can’t help but notice the beard memes that often pop up about beards and manliness but A beard doesn’t make you any more of a man!

They are amusing but I do sometimes wonder if some people take them seriously?

Yes I have a beard, it’s not massive but it’s not small either, but by having a beard I am no different to how I was previously. Lets take this meme for example.

Okay, so I grew a beard but my strength has not changed, that would mean working out and not just growing some hair on my face.

Healthier? Have you seen me? I am basically housebound and my wife has to help me shower!

Happier? Well I am happier with what I see in the mirror but that’s about as far as it goes.

Manlier? Oh come on, please. There are many more guys without beards that are manlier than me!
Better Looking? Yes I agree that many guys with a beard look good, but also there are many that are just still bloody ugly but have a beard!

Do I have to answer this one?

Technically I think the medical definition of a woman isn’t ‘doesn’t have a beard’, there are some very masculine guys that don’t have beards and I know of two women who have beards!

Well that one might get you in a lot of trouble, legally I don’t think someone can be sacked from a job or given a police caution or end up on the sex offenders register for touching a beard but touch a woman’s bum without permission and a slap may be the least of your problems. It’s also not very moral is it!

Okay, I guess that some of the guys out there who look damn good with their beards and their smart outfits could attract many women and easily get laid. However again, just growing a beard won’t make you sexually attractive, although in some cases it can help improve your look.

See above comment!

Now I guess these are just a little bit of fun and most of us don’t take them seriously and I really don’t have a problem with them.

What I do get fed up with are the accounts on Instagram for beard care brands that just fill their feed with memes and also photos of a bearded guy with a scantily clad woman. It’s obvious that this is just a means to get thousands of followers but the followers are there for the eye candy, not the products that are sold by the brand.

I have seen accounts with well over 10k followers and all they do is post the same memes and pictures of naked women that appear so often. I actually have started to unfollow this sort of account as I want to see products from brands, not meme after meme and naked women pressed against a bearded guy!

Yes this could be partly down to my youth having escaped my grip and feeling like hell most days and therefore turning grumpy into an art form.

But, please let’s see some of your products. Can we see what you offer as a brand because I am damn sure we can’t go on your website and order a naked tattooed girl!
