I have just received another card through the door saying my parcel can’t be delivered as there are charges to pay!
This often happens when beard care products from outside the EU are sent for review, now in the case of the one above, the customs charge is only £4.21 and so not too bad, however Royal (thieving) Mail add £8 handling fee to it and so they want me to pay £12.21.
This is not the first time this has happened, in fact it has happened many times and as I am disabled and unable to work, it’s a pain in the arse!
So I phoned out wonderful HMRC today to ask why and what could I do to stop these charges. The guy was very helpful and sounded nice, he actually sounded like Rob Brydon. Now recently an episode of ‘Not Going Out’ had the main character talking to customer services about a ferry booking and the voice was Rob Brydon and he was very polite but annoyingly apologetic and calm and yet offered no help!
So this was my situation today, I was so angry and yet this guy had the calmest Welsh accent and was very polite but basically told me that sorry no help here.
I can’t apply to receive a refund as I am not a business and I can only receive items valued up to £15, after that I incur charges plus Royal Mails charge on top. He said they could mark it as samples and put a low value on it, but I have been asking companies to do this for a while and still no luck.
And so, as from today I will be limiting my beard care reviews to within the EU as I don’t get import charges, well until BREXIT ruins that as well!
I have been asking for an American reviewer who I can get products sent to and they can then write the reviews and post them on the website. So far no takers!
