So it’s the morning after my daughters 21st birthday barbecue, I had the option of escaping to my bedroom to watch some TV and chill out for a bit but I decided to just go for it and I sat in the garden on some cushions under a gazebo chatting with my mums husband.

Today I am paying the price for sitting out in the garden for so long, I was constantly woken up by bursts of pain last night and in the early hours I finally took some Oramorph. Today and possibly a good few days will be spent trying to recover as I feel like I stood in the ring with a cage fighter and called him a girl!

I spent a lot of the time chatting with with my mums husband, I enjoy the conversations we have because he has a wealth of knowledge and we spoke yesterday about computer code, the universe, nanotechnology and so many other random but interesting topics and whilst that level of thinking makes me very mentally tired, I thoroughly enjoy it.

Right now my wife and daughters are in the kitchen trying to wade through the aftermath and I’m now on the settee with my grandson asleep beside me, the temperature is rising and this week is meant to bring temperatures above 30°c and whilst the heat makes me feel unwell, the resulting thunderstorms will be very welcome.

I’m sorry that this is a very short and loose blog post but it’s all I can manage
