The Bear Head Grooming Citrus Burst Beard Balm has a certain that was always going to be one I loved, a blend of Orange Peel, Lemon Peel & Grapefruit Peel essential oils.

I tested the Bear Head Citrus Burst beard oil just under a year ago and gave it the ‘Golden Beard Award’ and so I was confident that I would love this balm.

The scent has been blended very well, the orange and the lemon are just amazing and that is backed up by the Grapefruit and it is, well just bloody perfect.

The base of the balm is a blend of Shea butter, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, Almond Oil & Hemp Seed Oil and unfortunately the batch I have is very grainy and it is a shame.

Beard balm Grainy

However!

Tomorrow I start using the Bear Head Grooming ‘Scots Pine’ balm and this morning I scooped some out and it is blended very well with only a very very faint grainy texture. We have been discussing this and I have been told that the grainy texture is in fact the Shea Butter that has formed crystals and that is the reason!

I have to review on what I have in front of me, it is the only way to review and so having the Scots Pine balm to compare it to and to see that this is a glitch, well that helps!

So what I am going to say is that because this one is the most grainy of the balms from Bear Head that I have for review, it really should get an 85, however taking into account the Scots Pine balm, it is clear that something has gone wrong and that isn’t normal for this brand. So it will get a 95 and if this had been smooth it would without doubt have been a ‘Golden Beard Award’ product.

*EDIT*

Grant has now sourced some new Shea Butter for the Bear head balms and this has resol;ved the grainy texture in them.
